Can someone please invent some kind of homing device for my cell phone so that whenever I lose it I can just press a button and it will hop to my hand...

Well, I've always thought my life was interesting. They sell something like that at sharper image, you can put beeper things on like 6 different items and the hang the hub up some place in your house or office. I need them for me keys as well. I am forever loosing my keys, I used to have one of those church lady things for my wrist but I couldn't handle it anymore.
btw hows the plan going? I just walked from my house to work (granted I live in california) but just wanted to say... YOU CAN DO IT!
